THE PENMEN: Southern New Hampshire is coming off a 3-2 defeat on Saturday against Saint Michael's College…junior Joe Collins notched a goal and an assist, while senior Dane Caracino handed out a pair of helpers…sophomore Jay Sylvia also picked up his first goal of the season against the Purple Knights and junior Jim Gabrione had an assist in the setback…freshman Matthew MacInnis made his first career start in the Penmen goal against Saint Michael's and registered 39 saves on 42 shots…Gabrione and Sylvia have recorded at least one point in six consecutive games dating back to last season, while Caracino has done so in five straight contests.
HEAD COACH KEN HUTCHINS: Ken Hutchins enters his eighth season as the head ice hockey coach at Southern New Hampshire...the 2013-14 Northeast-10 Coach of the Year, Hutchins guided the Penmen to the program's first-ever championship with the Northeast-10 Tournament crown a season ago...over his first seven seasons, Hutchins has guided the Penmen to the Northeast-10 Tournament six times, with five semifinal appearances...in 2013-14, Hutchins guided SNHU to a 17-8-1 record, the second-most wins in program history and the most since 2004-05.
THE RAMS: Tuesday marks the opening of the 2014-15 season for Framingham State...the Rams are coming off a season in which they finished 11-11-4 and made an appearance in the Massachusetts State College Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Tournament semifinals...Ryan McDonald returns for his senior season after leading FSU in scoring last year with 13 goals and 16 assists for 29 points...Brendan McCarron was the team's leading goal scorer in 2013-14 with 15 and is back for his final season in a Rams sweater.
WHAT'S NEXT: The Penmen host Daniel Webster College on Friday, November 14 at 7 p.m. before traveling to Stonehill College on Tuesday, November 18 for a 7 p.m. face-off with the Skyhawks.
