Box Score BROOKVILLE, N.Y. – The Southern New Hampshire University field hockey team fell on the road to No. 5 LIU Post, 9-1, in Northeast-10 action on Tuesday. The Penmen move to 1-14 and 0-8 in conference play, while the Pioneers improve to 12-2 and 8-1 in the league.
Southern New Hampshire junior Cassandra Nickerson (Newton, N.H.) stopped 17 shots during the game's first 67:04 before freshman Alexis Soucy (Windsor, Maine) stepped in and made a pair of saves in the setback.
After falling behind by a pair of goals late in the first half, Southern New Hampshire got on the board with just under four minutes remaining. Freshman Amaris Taylor (Tulsa, Okla.) fired a shot from just inside the arc that found the back of the cage for her fourth goal of the season to cut the deficit to a single goal at the half.
LIU Post came out strong in the second half, scoring four times in the first 15 minutes to put the game out of reach. Junior Keliann Margiotta (Sewell, N.J.) led the offensive charge for the Pioneers, registering a hat trick in the victory. Senior Lyn-Marie Wilson (Bridgetown, Barbados) also put forth a five-point effort, chipping in with two goals and an assist.
The Penmen are back in action on Friday when they travel to Merrimack College for a 4:30 p.m. contest with the Warriors. The Pioneers also resume their schedule on Friday when they welcome Bellarmine University for a non-conference matchup.
