Result: Southern New Hampshire University (523) – 20/38
The Southern New Hampshire University men's cross country team traveled to Franklin Park in Boston on Saturday for the New England Intercollegiate Amateur Athletic Association (NEIcAAA) Cross Country Championships. The Penmen finished 20th in a field of 38 institutions from Divisions I, II and III.
Southern New Hampshire placed fourth amongst Division II participants behind Stonehill College (212), American International College (345) and Franklin Pierce University (454). Boston University claimed the men's 8,000-meter championship title with a team score of 143.
Junior Nacho Hernando-Angulo (Logrono, Spain) led the Penmen with a time of 25:12, which was good enough for No. 17 overall and third in Division II. Sophomore Tyler McLaren (Pepperell, Mass.) was next across the finish line for SNHU in 25:41, followed by senior Michael Bisbee (Ashburnham, Mass.) who checked in at 26:20.
Sophomore Andrew Tuttle (Alton, N.H.) navigated the course in 26:41 to finish fourth for the Penmen, while junior Jacob Wormald (Pelham, N.H.) and freshman John Sanborn (Pembroke, N.H.) rounded out the Southern New Hampshire contingent in 26:52 and 27:29, respectively.
Notes:
- Hernando-Angulo was the top Penmen finisher for the fourth time in as many races this season.
- Southern New Hampshire has finished in the top-five amongst Division II competitors in each of its four races this season.
What's Next:
The Penmen are in action on Friday, Oct. 16 when they head to the Hopkinton Fairgrounds in Hopkinton, N.H. for the Bruce Kirsh Cup.
