Result: Southern New Hampshire University (38) – 2/10
Junior Nacho Hernando-Angulo (Logrono, Spain) earned his third individual crown of the season on Friday, as he led the Southern New Hampshire University men's cross country team to a second-place finish at the third annual Bruce Kirsh Cross Country Cup. The Penmen combined for 38 points, finishing nine points behind Franklin Pierce Univeristy.
Hernando-Angulo completed the 5,000-meter course in a time of 15:23, which was two seconds faster than Colton Ham of Franklin Pierce. Sophomore Tyler McLaren (Pepperell, Mass.) was 10 seconds off the pace, as he finished fourth in 15:33. Junior Jacob Wormald (Pelham, N.H.) crossed the finish line in 15:57 to finish No. 10, and he was the third Penmen to crack the top-10.
Senior Michael Bisbee (Ashburnham, Mass.) posted a time of 16:03, and sophomore Andrew Tuttle (Alton, N.H.) checked in at 16:15. Freshman John Sanborn (Chichester, N.H.) was just behind Tuttle after a 16:19 performance, while freshman Chris Burrill (Exeter, N.H.) turned in a 17:45 outing.
Notes:
- 116 runners took part in the event, and 10 NCAA institutions received team scores.
- Hernando-Angulo has set a new school record for individual cross country titles in a season with three.
- Friday marked the third time this season in which Southern New Hampshire was able to land at least three runners inside the top-10.
What's Next:
The Penmen continue their schedule on Sunday, Oct. 25 when they take part in the 2015 Northeast-10 Conference championship.
