Result: Southern New Hampshire University (221) – 9/9
Junior Laura O'Hanlon (Dedham, Mass.) raced to the individual title at the third annual Bruce Kirsh Cross Country Cup at the Hopkinton Fairgrounds on Friday. As a team, Southern New Hampshire University combined for 221 points to finish ninth.
O'Hanlon breezed through the 4,000-meter course in 14:31, eight seconds faster than her closest competitor. It marks the first time in her career that she has taken the individual crown at an event, and the fifth occasion this season in which she has been the top Penmen finisher.
Freshman Ashley Dennis (Coventry, R.I.) was the next Southern New Hampshire student-athlete across the finish line, as she navigated the terrain in 16:55. Junior Felicia Dowling (Merrimack, N.H.) checked in just four seconds later at 16:59, and sophomore Kaitlin McCauley (Waltham, Mass.) traversed the course in 17:27. Junior Devanee Ebert (Reading, Mass.) closed out the Penmen contingent with a time of 19:02.
Notes:
- The event consisted of 101 student-athletes from nine institutions.
- O'Hanlon has led Southern New Hampshire in every race in which she has competed.
What's Next:
The Penmen retune to action on Sunday, Oct. 25 when they take part in the 2015 Northeast-10 Conference championship.
