Sophomore Catherine Stinson (Lynn, Mass.) notched her first career double-double to help the Southern New Hampshire University women's basketball team pull away from Molloy College for a 49-36 victory on Friday evening at the SNHU Fieldhouse. The Penmen are now 4-0 for the first time since the 2011-12 season.

Stinson matched her career best with a game-high 14 points (5-13 FG, 4-5 FT) and also pulled down a career-high 10 rebounds. Junior Sara Ryan (Quincy, Mass.) just missed out on the double-double as she registered nine points (4-10 FG, 1-3 FT), 10 rebounds and two assists.

Kimani Jackson paced Molloy with 12 points, eight boards, three blocks and three steals.

Southern New Hampshire jumped out to a 6-0 lead on baskets by sophomores Jennifer Shelp (Apalachin, N.Y.), Olivia Conrad (Hanover, Mass.) and Stinson before a 15-2 surge – with five points each from Ally Leftridge and Ihnacinse Grady – put Molloy in front, 15-8. The Lions would lead 15-10 at the end of the first quarter.

Molloy stretched its lead to five with three minutes to go in the opening half, but the Penmen closed the stanza on a 6-0 run to bring a 22-21 lead into the locker room.

The third quarter featured a trio of lead changes and a tie before a free throw from Shelp gave Southern New Hampshire the lead for good at 31-30 with 2:49 on the clock. A running jumper from just to the right of the paint that was banked in by Stinson with 6.1 seconds left, followed by the completion of the three-point play at the line, nudged the Penmen lead to 36-32 heading into the fourth quarter.

A Jackson layup sliced the Molloy deficit in half at the start of the final frame, but seven points from Ryan powered a 9-0 run that put SNHU in command at 45-34 with just under five minutes remaining. Jackson's two free throws would bring the Lions as close as they would get at nine, but the Penmen scored the game's final four points to put it away.

Shelp tallied seven points (2-9 FG, 3-4 FT), eight rebounds and three assists, while Conrad chipped in six points (3-5 FG) and three boards. Senior Erin Doherty (Marshfield, Mass.) added four points (2-5 FG) and six rebounds, with Kylie Lorenzen (Holliston, Mass.) contributing three points (1-4 FG, 1-2 FT) and eight rebounds.
