SNHU D2ADA ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT AWARD WINNERS

CLEVELAND – A total of 70 Southern New Hampshire University student-athletes have been named recipients of the Division 2 Athletics Directors Association (D2ADA) Academic Achivement Award for the 2014-15 academic year, it was announced Thursday.  A record 7,320 student-athletes at a total of 147 Division II institutions were honored.

In order to receive an Academic Achievement Award, a student-athlete must have a cumulative grade point average above 3.5 on a 4.0 scale, completed at least two years of college level work and been an active member of an intercollegiate team in 2014-15.

"The D2 ADA continuously strives to recognize the outstanding student-athletes in our division, and we would like to thank and congratulate the institutions that took part in honoring the 2014-15 Academic Achievement Award winners," stated D2ADA President Fran Reidy, director of athletics at Saint Leo University.  "As an additional platform to showcase outstanding student-athletes, this award allows the D2ADA to highlight the efforts in the classroom, as well as on the playing field."

Penmen student-athletes continue to excel in the classroom.  Over 55% of SNHU varsity athletes were named to the Northeast-10 Commissioner's Honor Roll in each semester in 2014-15 for achieving over a 3.0 term GPA, while five student-athletes were named Capital One Academic All-Americans.  In addition, 18 student-athletes were named to their respective NE-10 All-Academic teams, and three teams (women's basketball, men's cross country and men's ice hockey) earned the NE-10 Team Academic Excellence Award.
