When and Where: September 19, 2015 – Dartmouth, Mass. (University of Massachusetts–Dartmouth)
Result: Southern New Hampshire University (178) – 6/43
Junior Nacho Hernando-Angulo (Logrono, Spain) captured his second consecutive individual title, and the Southern New Hampshire University men's cross country team raced to a sixth-place finish at the 2015 University of Massachusetts–Dartmouth Cross Country Invitational on Saturday.
Hernando-Angulo set a new program record with a time of 25:13, which shattered the previous mark of 26:07 set by current sophomore Tyler McLaren (Pepperell, Mass.) at the 2014 UMass-Dartmouth Invitational. Hernando-Angulo topped the 324-runner field by 1.41 seconds over his closest competitor.
McLaren completed the 8,000-meter course in 25:57, which was good enough for No. 21 overall. Fellow sophomore Andrew Tuttle (Alton, N.H.) was the next Penmen across the finish line with a time of 26:36, and senior Michael Bisbee (Ashburnham, Mass.) checked in behind him in 26:52. Junior Jacob Wormald (Pelham, N.H.) rounded out the Southern New Hampshire top-five in a time of 26:58.
Notes:
- SNHU posted its highest finish ever at the UMass-Dartmouth Invitational, eclipsing the previous program-best of 10th place in 2014.
- Hernando-Angulo and McLaren each own two of the top-four fastest 8K times in school history.
- The Penmen have recorded back-to-back top-10 finishes in a season for the second consecutive year after not previously accomplishing the feat.
