The Southern New Hampshire University men's cross country team raced to a second-place finish at the 2015 Northeast-10 Conference Cross Country Preview Meet at Saint Michael's College on Saturday.
Southern Connecticut State University finished in first with a team score of 31, followed by the Penmen with 33 points. Saint Michael's College combined for 68 points to finish third, while Assumption College (91) and Saint Anselm College (130) rounded out the field in fourth and fifth respectively.
Junior Nacho Hernando-Angulo (Logrono, Spain) paced Southern New Hampshire with a time of 27:23, which was good enough for second overall. Sophomore Tyler McLaren (Pepperell, Mass.) also put forth a top-five effort as he crossed the finish line fourth in 27:27.
Junior Jacob Wormald (Pelham, N.H.) navigated the course in 27:37 to check in at No. 6, while sophomore Andrew Tuttle (Alton, N.H.) was ninth after posting a time of 28:00. Freshman John Sanborn (Pembroke, N.H.) rounded out the Penmen contingent in 28:11 to finish No. 12 overall.
Notes:
- SNHU finished second overall for the second time in three races this season after earning a runner-up finish at the Shacklette Invitational on Sept. 5.
- Hernando-Angulo has been the top Penmen finisher at all-three races this season and has won the individual title at two of the first three events.
- Southern New Hampshire finished with four student-athletes in the top-10 on Saturday in a race that featured 50 runners.
What's Next:
The Penmen resume their schedule on Oct. 10 when they travel to Franklin Park in Boston for the New England Intercollegiate Amateur Athletic Association Cross Country Championship.
