Freshman Laura van der Doorn (Beverwijk, Netherlands) and junior Erin Frost (E. Andover, N.H.) scored second-half goals to send the Southern New Hampshire University field hockey team to a 2-0 victory against Southern Connecticut State University on Sunday afternoon at Larkin Field.

As a scoreless first half drew to a close, the Penmen appeared to have the game's first goal as sophomore Cassidy Huckins (Boscawen, N.H.) scored on a shot from the left side of the circle with just over 10 seconds to play, but the officials whistled for a penalty corner just prior to the shot. Off the corner opportunity, van der Doorn lifted a shot that sailed over the crossbar to end the opening stanza.

van der Doorn would eventually score the first goal of the match just about two minutes later – in game clock time – as just 1:40 after the halftime break, she swept in a short pass from junior Amaris Taylor (Tulsa, Okla.) at the right post to stake Southern New Hampshire to a 1-0 advantage.

Frost doubled the SNHU lead with just 2:34 remaining as she collected the rebound off a shot from Taylor and deposited it into the left side of the cage to make it 2-0.

Notes:
- The Penmen win for the third team in four matches to climb within one win of .500.
- The victory is the first Northeast-10 Conference win for Southern New Hampshire in program history.
- Sophomore goalkeeper Melanie Rennie (Madison, Conn.) stopped all four shots she faced to earn her second career shutout. Brianna Craft racked up 13 stops for the Owls.
- Southern New Hampshire outshot Southern Connecticut, 22-6, including 17-3 in the second half, and also owned a 15-4 advantage in penalty corners.
