Result: Southern New Hampshire University 31st/34
Freshman Michael Moreno (Houston, Texas) raced across the finish line in 26:46 to lead the Southern New Hampshire University men's cross country team at the 2016 NEIC4A Cross Country Championships at Franklin Park in Boston on Saturday. The Penmen finished No. 31 overall in a field that consisted of 34 teams from NCAA Divisions I, II and III.
Sophomore Chris Burrill (Exeter, N.H.) was next across the line for SNHU in 27:31, while freshman Tyler Sholes (Franklin, Conn.) checked in after clocking an official time of 27:42. Senior Jacob Wormald (Pelham, N.H.) was the fourth Penmen in after a 27:56 performance before freshman Adam Courtemanche (Greenville, R.I.) traversed the terrain in 29:18.
Sophomore John Sanborn (Chichester, N.H.) narrowly missed out on the Southern New Hampshire top-five after he navigated the course in 29:56 and senior Rafy Castillo (Bow, N.H.) rounded out the Penmen harriers in 33:05.
Notes:
- Southern New Hampshire competed without three of its top competitors in senior Nacho Hernando-Angulo (Logrono, Spain), junior Tyler McLaren (Pepperrell, Mass.) and classmate Andrew Tuttle (Alton, N.H.).
- The race featured 221 student-athletes, and American International College's Leakey Kipkosgei took the individual title.
- Northeastern University captured the team championship, and the Huskies were followed by Brown University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Boston University and the University of Maine.
What's Next:
The Penmen are idle until Saturday, October 22 when they head to Easton, Massachusetts for the Northeast-10 Championship, which will be hosted by Stonehill College.
