BOX SCORE

When and Where: October 4, 2017 – Waltham, Mass. (Bentley Turf Field)
Score: Bentley University 1, Southern New Hampshire University 0
Records: SNHU 5-5 (2-4 Northeast-10), Bentley 3-7 (3-3 Northeast-10)

Junior Melanie Rennie (Madison, Conn.) registered six saves, but Niki Neidhart's goal in the second minute proved to be the only offense either side could generate on Wednesday, as the Southern New Hampshire University field hockey team fell on the road to Bentley University, 1-0.

Just over 90 seconds into the contest, Neidhart fired a shot in tight that was initially blocked, but she corralled the rebound and tucked the second effort past Rennie for her fourth of the year at 1:41.

Neither team was able to put forth much of an offensive effort for the ensuing seven minutes until sophomore Megan Lewis-Taylor (Nashua, N.H.) saw her bid stopped by Falcons' goalkeeper, Tatiana Naclerio. Naclerio was not tested again until the final seven-plus minutes of the opening stanza, when senior Mikaela Gauvain (Salem, N.H.) ripped a shot on cage that was kicked aside. Naclerio added two saves in the second half, both in the opening 6:21, to earn the shutout.

Notes:
- Bentley outshot Southern New Hampshire, 12-8, for the duration of the contest. Seven of the Falcons' attempts wound up on target, while half of the Penmen shots went on goal.
- SNHU was at a slight disadvantage in penalty corners for the game, as Bentley maintained an 11-9 edge. After Southern New Hampshire yielded seven penalty corners in the opening 35 minutes, it responded by drawing seven corners in the second half.
- After earning victories in five of its first six games, and two triumphs in Northeast-10 Conference action, Southern New Hampshire is in the midst of a four-game slide.

What's Next:
The Penmen look to bounce back on Saturday (October 7) when they play host to Long Island University – LIU Post on Larkin Field at noon.
