Senior Sara Ryan (Quincy, Mass.) scored 20 points, but the Southern New Hampshire University women's basketball team dropped Saturday afternoon's Senior Day affair with Stonehill College, 61-50, at the SNHU Fieldhouse.

Ryan shot 7-for-13 from the field, including 4-for-7 from beyond the arc, and 2-for-2 from the line, while dishing three assists, making a pair of steals and blocking a shot.

Samantha Hyslip led all scorers with 22 points for the Skyhawks.

With the scored tied at six early on following a Ryan 3-pointer, Stonehill ripped off a 10-3 run – with six points from Hyslip – to open a 16-9 advantage heading into the second quarter.

The gap was once again at seven with less than five minutes to play in the half when seven points from Ryan powered a 12-3 burst that gave the Penmen their first lead of the afternoon, 27-25, going into the halftime break.

Southern New Hampshire began the second half with an 11-4 run that featured five points from Ryan and handed the Penmen their largest lead of the day at 38-29. From there, however, Stonehill ripped off a 14-2 run – with six points from Hyslip and four from Tayler Wornum – to close the third quarter with a 43-40 lead.

With the margin at a pair, seven straight Stonehill points would run its advantage to nine just past the midway point of the final frame before a 7-2 counter-run from SNHU trimmed its deficit to 54-50 at the two-minute mark. The Skyhawks, however, would score the final seven points of the game, including a 5-for-6 performance from the line to seal it.

Junior Olivia Conrad (Hanover, Mass.) tallied six points (3-4 FG, three assists and a pair of blocks, with junior Catherine Stinson (Lynn, Mass.) adding five points (2-5 FG, 1-2 3-FG), three rebounds and two helpers. Senior Madi Rowan (Aliquippa, Pa.) also netted five points (2-2 FG, 1-2 FT).
