Junior Lindsay Baum (N. Salem, N.Y.) and sophomore Rachel Wagner (Framingham, Mass.) were victorious in their No. 3 singles, match, but the Southern New Hampshire University women's tennis team dropped a 7-0 decision to fifth-ranked Hawaii Pacific University on Monday at Central Oahu Regional Park.
Baum and Wagner defeated Leticia dos Santos and Monica Greene, 6-3, in the third doubles spot.
Graduate student Abla Chadli (Rabat, Morocco), ranked 50th in the nation amongst singles players, hung tough against Nicole Hoynaski, the eighth-ranked singles player in the country, but lost, 4-6, 3-6.
Notes:
-Division I scoring was used, which awards one point for doubles play.
-SNHU loses for just the fourth time in its last 13 matches.
-Baum and Wagner improve to 17-2 this season as doubles partners.
-Southern New Hampshire is slotted sixth in the ITA East Region Rankings.
