MANCHESTER, N.H. – In what is hopefully the final announcement of its kind in 2017, the Southern New Hampshire University Department of Athletics was forced to make a handful of weekend scheduling changes for baseball and softball.
Baseball's doubleheader against Southern Connecticut State University, scheduled for Saturday, April 8 at Penmen Field, will now be played down at SCSU beginning at noon. Baseball is hopeful Penmen Field will be ready to host the home opener against the University of New Haven on Sunday, April 9. The twin bill, originally scheduled to start at noon, will now see the first pitch thrown at 2 p.m. to allow for extra time to have the field ready.
The softball doubleheader versus the Long Island University-LIU Post that was postponed, will be played Saturday, April 8, but is now at Stonehill College beginning at 3 p.m. As announced previously, softball will open its home slate Monday, April 10 against Post University in a doubleheader that gets underway at 2 p.m.
In other changes, softball's single game against Bentley University has been cancelled, leaving Monday, April 17 open after it moved its doubleheader against the Falcons to Wednesday, April 26 at 3 p.m.
Softball has also announced Thursday, April 13 (3/5 p.m.) as its make-up date of the postponed March 22 doubleheader at Saint Anselm College. In addition, softball moved its Friday, April 14 home game against Stonehill to Friday, April 21 at 5 p.m., opening April 14 (4 p.m.) for a make-up of its home game against Saint Anselm that was postponed on March 28.
