First-half goals 35 seconds apart by sophomore Hélène Servais (Brussels, Belgium) and senior Maddie Holt (Seabrook, N.H.) staked SNHU to a 2-0 halftime lead on Saturday, but LIU Post rallied in the second half for a 3-2 win with Emily Miller scoring the game-winner at 68:40.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Southern New Hampshire struck 12:18 into the contest on a goal by Servais off a pass by junior Laura van der Doorn (Beverwijk, The Netherlands)
- The Penmen scored again just 35 seconds later with senior Lindsey Poirier (South Berwick, Maine) feeding Holt for a 2-0 lead.
- Tarryn Morris scored unassisted at 41:27, spinning around a defender and shooting from the left side, to bring the Pioneers to within 2-1.
- LIU tied the game at 59:09 on a goal by Sammy Bell on a shot from the top of the circle
- The game-winning goal, Emily Miller's 11th of the season, came at 68:40 after receiving an assist from Emma Braeckmans.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- LIU Post held a 19-9 edge on shots, including a 13-7 edge on shots on goal. The Pioneers also held a 19-7 advantage in penalty corners.
- Senior Melanie Rennie (Madison, Conn.) played the entire game in goal for the Penmen, falling to 4-4. Her GAA for the season stands at 2.21.
NOTES
- Southern New Hampshire had won three-in-a-row, which was one victory shy of the program record.
- The Pioneers have won five of the six meetings all-time with the Penmen.
