Senior Melanie Rennie (Madison, Conn.) and sophomore Kate Pigsley (East Kingston, N.H.) combined for seven saves on Saturday, but a four-goal second half propelled Limestone College past Southern New Hampshire University, 5-0, in non-conference field hockey at Penmen Stadium Saturday.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- After the two sides played to a scoreless deadlock through the first 11-plus minutes, Kelly Diplock redirected a blast off the stick of Gwen Lewis to give the Saints a 1-0 advantage.
- Diplock's marker proved to be the only offense of the opening stanza, however, Limestone potted a pair of goals within the first 20 minutes of the second half to put the game out of reach. Kate Remley made it a two-score affair when she hammered home a feed from Chelsea Cangro just inside the circle early in the 43rd minute before Cameron Felch found the back of the cage in the 54th minute.
- Samantha D'Antonio extended the Saints' advantage to four with 14 minutes to play when she punched home a rebound opportunity before Remley cashed in for her second of the day on a penalty corner in the final minute.
