Junior Hélène Servais (Brussels, Belgium) registered a career-high seven points on a hat trick and an assist Monday, and the ninth-ranked Southern New Hampshire University field hockey team eased past Molloy College, 7-0, in Northeast-10 Conference action at Larkin Field.
STANDOUT PERFORMERS
- Servais had a hand in the first four goals of the contest, as she scored the first three and handed out an assist on the fourth.
- Sophomore Faye Turkmen (Bergen, The Netherlands) notched a career-best five points on Monday with a goal and three assists.
- Senior Laura van der Doorn (Beverwijk, The Netherlands) added a pair of goals while sophomore Emily Campbell (Raynham, Mass.) chipped in with a goal and a helper.
KEY MOMENT
- After a scoreless first quarter, Servais put the game out of reach with a natural hat trick in the span of 8:27 to start the second stanza.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Junior Kate Pigsley (East Kingston, N.H.) and graduate student Melanie Rennie (Madison, Conn.) combined for the third Penmen shutout of the season. Rennie did not face a shot in the opening 30 minutes before Pigsley turned away the two attempts she faced in the second half.
- Ava Quick suffered the setback in the Lions' cage after stopping four of the eight shots she faced in the opening 28:41 before Ally Saigh made a dozen stops over the final 31:19.
- Southern New Hampshire outshot Molloy by a 36-6 margin, which included a 24-2 edge in shots on goal.
- SNHU worked 13 penalty corners and surrendered just three on Monday.
NOTES
- Southern New Hampshire earned its 10th win of the season on Monday, which ties the program record it set in 2018. The Penmen will have five opportunities to set a new school benchmark.
- SNHU improves to 9-0 against unranked opponents this season. In those nine triumphs, Southern New Hampshire is outscoring its opposition by a 42-5 margin.
- van der Doorn's goals were Nos. 10 and 11 on the season, which move her into sole possession of second place on the single season goal scoring list in program history. van der Doorn, who now has 32 goals in her career, is the program leader in both career goals and career points (80). She is currently tied for the NE10 lead in points and goals.
- Servais' seven-point day vaulted her into second place in career points in SNHU field hockey history. Her 56 points trail on van der Doorn and moved her five points ahead of Maddie Holt '19.
