NCAA RELEASE | NCAA ATLANTIC/EAST REGIONAL CENTRAL
INDIANAPOLIS – The Southern New Hampshire University men's golf team received the East Region's No. 2 seed and claimed its ninth NCAA Regional nod Friday when the NCAA announced the field of 80 teams and 32 student-athletes competing as individuals that were selected to participate in regional competition that will be conducted May 9-11.
The Penmen, who will be making their sixth straight appearance, are seeded second in the Atlantic/East Regional that will tee off at Totteridge Golf Club in Greensburg, Pa. – one of four regional sites. California University of Pennsylvania will serve as the host.
At minimum, the top three teams and the top two student-athletes not with a team from each regional will advance to the finals May 20-24 at The Resort at Glade Springs in Daniels, W.Va. The remaining eight team berths will be allocated based on the regions represented in the prior year's head-to-head medal play portion of the championships, with the maximum number of teams from a given region capped at seven. The finals will be hosted by the Mountain East Conference.
The Penmen have captured two tournament titles this season, including their four Northeast-10 Championship, which garnered them the automatic bid for the NCAA Tournament. They also submitted three other top-three finishes. SNHU's best showing at the Atlantic/East Regional came in 2016 when it finished second and advanced to the NCAA National Championship for the first time in school history, submitting the highest finish for a team from New England since 2004 with a 16th-place performance.
