Seniors Shawn Montague (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) and Eamonn Joyce (Medford, Mass.) both recorded double-doubles, but the Southern New Hampshire University men's basketball team lost a heartbreaker to Adelphi University at the buzzer, 76-74, Saturday at the Center for Recreation and Sport.

KEY MOMENTS
- Southern New Hampshire, which jumped out to a 24-7 lead to begin the game, trailed, 73-67, with just under a minute-and-a-half to go in regulation when a 5-0 run pulled the Penmen to within a point with 18 seconds left. Adelphi would make one of two free throws, but after SNHU rebounded the miss, Montague converted a layup at the other end to knot the game at 74-all with six ticks on the clock. Ronnie Silva would send the home fans away happy, however, as he buried a jumper at the buzzer to lift Adelphi to victory.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Silva paced Adelphi with 19 points (7-21 FG, 5-7 FT), while Spencer Foley added 18 points (7-12 FG, 3-7 3-FG, 1-1 FT).
- The Ravens outshot the Penmen, 47.8 percent (32-67) to 44.3 percent (27-61), while SNHU was narrowly better from long range, 38.1 percent (8-21) to 36 percent (9-25).
- SNHU was also plus-6 from the line, while FPU shot it better, 78.3 percent (18-23) to 75 percent (24-32).
- The Penmen gathered more points off turnovers (19-16) and on the fast break (17-15), in addition to featuring a better assist-to-turnover ratio (14/11-14/12), while the Ravens captured the glass (41-31) and the paint (40-32), and totaled up more second chance points (9-7).
NOTES
- Southern New Hampshire, which had won five of its last seven, has now dropped two-in-a-row, while the Panthers have now won eight straight.
- Adelphi has now won four of six, including three-straight, in the all-time series, which SNHU leads, 12-9.
- The Penmen have also now dropped three consecutive road games against Adelphi, last winning in Garden City on Jan. 22, 2014 (60-50).
- The double-double for Montague is his fifth of season and 15th of his Penmen career, while Joyce's double-double is his third of the season and eighth of his career.
- Montague also reaches the 20-point plateau for the seventh time this season and ninth time in an SNHU uniform.
WHAT'S NEXT
- The Penmen are back in action Tuesday, Jan. 14 (7:30 p.m.) when they take on Southern Connecticut State University.
- The next home contest for SNHU is Saturday, Jan. 18 (3:30 p.m.) when it plays host to Le Moyne College at the Stan Spirou Field House. The game will air on WGIR 610-AM.
