Sophomore AJ Cavotta (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) submitted a two-round total of 1-under 141 and leads the way after 36 holes, as the Southern New Hampshire University men's golf team also is in first place at the Post Eagles Invite, which took place Monday at Watertown Golf Club.
INDIVIDUAL PERFORMERS
- Cavotta opened the tournament with a 1-under 70 in the first round, before shooting par in the second.
- Senior Matt Conti (Walpole, Mass.) is tied for third at 1-over 143. Conti was part of a three-way tie atop the leaderboard after round one with a 1-under 70, before carding a 73 in the second round.
- Freshman Jack Pepin (Plaistow, N.H.) is tied for eighth with a 3-over 145. He penciled in a 73 in round one and then shaved off a stroke with a 72 in the second round.
- Junior Jeff Liss (Port St. Lucie, Fla.), fresh off individual medalist honors at the NE10 Championship last week, is tied for 10th with a 146. He started with a 77 and then climbed the leaderboard by firing a 2-under 69, which tied for the best score of the day.
NOTES
- Sophomore Nick Tufts (Auburn, N.H.) did not factor into the scoring, as he finished the first day with a 159 (82/77).
- Sophomore Alex Korkuc (So. Setauket, N.Y.), playing as an individual, is tied for 47th with a 157 (79/78).
- SNHU (575) owns a 10-shot lead over host Post University (585).
- Cavotta is the individual leader by one stroke over Assumption University's Sean Magarian (142).
- Cavotta, the only golfer to be under par through two rounds, is tied for second with eight birdies. He also leads the field in par 4 scoring (-2).
- The Post Eagles Invite is comprised of 81 golfers from 14 different institutions.
