Sophomore Andrew Surprenant (Boscawen, N.H.) fired the second lowest round of the tournament for a Penmen with a 2-over 72 in the final round of the NCAA Atlantic/East Regional Championship, but the Southern New Hampshire University men's golf team finished 20th Saturday at the Sunnehanna Country Club.
INDIVIDUAL PERFORMERS
- Surprenant rebounded after having his 80 dropped from the team score in Friday's middle round. He finished in a tie for 58th with a 226 (74/80/72).
- Sophomore Stephen Ramos (Danville, N.H.) turned in his best round of the tournament with a 74 to total a 228 (75/79/74).
- Sophomore Sam Maurice (Auburn, N.H.), who had the best round of the tournament for the Penmen with a 1-over 71 on Thursday, matched Friday's 78 and finished between Surprenant and Ramos with a 227 (71/78/78).
- Freshman Gavin Richardson (Concord, N.H.) rounded out the Penmen scorers with a 79 that gave him a 234 (77/78/79) for the tourney.
NOTES
- Senior Sean Dully (Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.) had his 81 dropped from the team score, as he totaled a 232 (77/74/81).
- Gannon University and the University of Charleston (W.Va.) finished tied at 861, with Gannon winning on the first playoff hole. Those two, along with Wheeling University, advanced to the NCAA National Championships.
- Gannon's Rasmus Seppanen (67/72/70) and Charleston's Pau Sanchez (72/71/66) also finished in a tie atop the individual leaderboard at 1-under 209. Sanchez was victorious on the sixth playoff hole.
- Glenville State University's Hector Arriaga (211: 70/72/69) and West Liberty University's Adam Gill (213: 73/67/73) were the individual qualifiers for the NCAA National Championship.
- The NCAA Atlantic/East Regional Championship was comprised of 126 golfers from 28 different institutions.
