Sophomore AJ Cavotta (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) is in first place after firing a 1-under 70 in the opening round of the Le Moyne College Invitational, while the Southern New Hampshire University men's golf team is tied for fifth after Friday's first 18 holes at Bellevue Country Club.

INDIVIDUAL PERFORMERS

• Cavotta's 1-under 70 is the only sub-par round of the day and is two shots better than the field.
• Senior Matt Conti (Walpole, Mass.) and freshman Jack Pepin (Plaistow, N.H.) are tied for 20th after each shooting a 76.
• Junior Jeff Liss (Port St. Lucie, Fla.) rounded out the Penmen scorers with an 80.

NOTES

• Sophomore Alex Korkuc (So. Setauket, N.Y.) did not factor into the scoring with an 83.
• Assumption University is in first with a 296, which is three strokes better than host Le Moyne College and Post University (299).
• Cavotta is the individual leader by two shots over Assumption's Jack Moy and Le Moyne's Tyler Birdd (72).
• Cavotta's seven birdies are three more than the next closest competitor.
• The Le Moyne Fall Invite is comprised of 88 golfers from 16 different institutions.
