MANSFIELD, Mass. – Freshman Aaron Gray (Providence, R.I.) of the Southern New Hampshire University men's basketball team was chosen as the NE10 Rookie of the Week for the period ending Nov. 14, the league office announced Monday afternoon.
Gray recorded 19.0 points and 8.5 rebounds per game, while shooting 56.5 percent (13-23) from the floor, 50 percent (5-10) from beyond the arc, and 70 percent (7-10) from the line, during a 2-0 start to the season for SNHU. Gray posted 16 points (5-11 FG, 1-3 3-FG, 5-8 FT) and 12 boards for his first career double-double in Friday night's 67-58 win at Caldwell University and then paced the Penmen with 22 points (8-12 FG, 4-7 3-FG, 2-2 FT) and five rebounds in a 74-61 triumph over Bloomfield College on Saturday.
Through the opening weekend, Gray ranks sixth in the NE10 in scoring, ninth in rebounding and field goals made, as well as 12th in both 3-pointers and free throws made.
Gray and the 2-0 Penmen return to action Wednesday, Nov. 17 (7:30 p.m.) when they play host to Assumption University in a contest that will air live on WGIR 610-AM.
