Freshman Jack Pepin (Plaistow, N.H.) carded an even-par 72 in his first collegiate event, as the Southern New Hampshire University men's golf team tied for first at the opening round of the Franklin Pierce University Fall Invitational on Sunday at Keene Country Club.

INDIVIDUAL PERFORMERS

• Pepin is tied for eighth and just one stroke back of the seven-way tie for first in front of him.
• Senior Matt Conti (Walpole, Mass.) and sophomore Nick Tufts (Auburn, N.H.) both shot 73 and are tied for 11th.
• Junior Jeff Liss (Port St. Lucie, Fla.) rounded out the Penmen scorers with a 74 and is tied for 18th.

NOTES

• Sophomore AJ Cavotta (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) did not factor into the scoring, but shot a 76 that has him tied for 26th and just five shots off the pace.
• Southern New Hampshire is tied for first with Post University, which also totaled a 292 that sits three shots ahead of the host Ravens (295).
• Seven golfers sit atop the individual leaderboard with a 1-under 71, including Camilo Samur (Goldey-Beacom College), Ryen Fillebrown (Assumption University), Andrew Brunozzi (Adelphi University), Alejandro Gomez (Dominican (N.Y.) College), Peter Wurszt (Franklin Pierce), Ian Wivestad (Post) and Li Su (American International College).
• The FPU Fall Invite is comprised of 75 golfers from 14 different institutions.
