Senior Matt Conti (Walpole, Mass.) is at 5-under through two rounds after an impressive showing Monday at the Penmen Fall Invitational, where the Southern New Hampshire University men's golf team leads after 36 holes at Derryfield Country Club.
INDIVIDUAL PERFORMERS
- Conti fired a 67 in the opening round and added a 68 to his scorecard in the second for a two-round total of 5-under 135, which has him in first place by three strokes.
- Sophomore AJ Cavotta (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) is tied for third with a 1-under 139, after shooting a 71 in the first round and then carding a 68 in round two.
- Freshman Jack Pepin (Plaistow, N.H.) is tied for eighth, shooting an even-par 70 over the first 18 and then penciling in a 73 in the second round for a 3-over 143.
- Sophomore Nick Tufts (Auburn, N.H.) is tied for 17th with a 147. He shot a 72 in the first round and did not factor into the scoring with a 75 in round two.
- Junior Jeff Liss (Port St. Lucie, Fla.) had his opening-round 79 dropped, but rebounded with a 71 in the second round to total a 150 that has him tied for 29th.
NOTES
- Sophomore Alex Korkuc (So. Setauket, N.Y.), playing as an individual, submitted a two-round total of 153 (77/76).
- Southern New Hampshire owns a 16-stroke lead over Post University, which sits in second place with a 576.
- Conti holds a three-shot lead over Saint Anselm College's James Henry, who shot matching 69s.
- Saint Anselm's Drew Semons owned the low score of the day with a 66 in round two.
- Conti and Semons are tied with a tournament-high eight birdies through two rounds. Conti also paces the field in par 4 (-5) and par 3 (-1) scoring.
- The Penmen Fall Invite is comprised of 60 golfers from 11 different institutions.
