The Southern New Hampshire men's basketball team played for the first time in five weeks, but a late rally fell short in an 88-82 loss at Stonehill Thursday night. Freshman
Aaron Gray (Providence, R.I.) led the Penmen with 19 points.

- Sophomore Noah Kamba (Lynn, Mass.) – 13 points (5-9 FG, 3-6 3-FG), 3 assists
KEY MOMENTS
- The Penmen chased most of the first half, taking leads late on a jumper by Sanders and a pair of baskets by Gray, but Stonehill took a 38-36 lead to the locker room.
- Gray had 15 points at the break on 6-of-9 shooting for SNHU.
- Stonehill went on a 26-8 run mid-way through the second half, taking a 73-57 lead with 8:01 to play on a three-point field goal by Owen Chose (19 points).
- SNHU used an 11-0 run to get back into the game, and closed to within three at 80-77 on a three-point field goal by Kamba with 2:11 to play.
- A scoop by Sanders with 48 seconds left drew the Penmen again to within a bucket at 82-79, but SNHU could get past the Skyhawks. Sanders hit a three pointer to close the contest.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Junior Ryan Layman (Wrentham, Mass.) scored nine points (3-4 FG) and grabbed eleven rebounds, matching a career-high.
- Stonehill made 32-of-64 shots (.500) compared to SNHU's 27-for-55 (.491).
- The Skyhawks were 15-19 from the line (.789), while the Penmen made 17 free throws on 23 attempts (..739)
- Stonehill narrowly won the glass (32-33) and received more bench scoring (28-7). SNHU had 16 turnovers to 11, and Stonehill took advantage with a 23-12 edge on points off turnovers.
NOTES
- The game was the first for the Penmen since defeating nationally-ranked Dominican College on December 9.
- SNHU has dropped its last six contests at Stonehill, and the all-time series is now tied at 32-32.
- The teams are scheduled to meet again in NE10 play on February 19 at the Stan Spirou Field House.

- The Penmen return to action Saturday, January 15 (1 p.m.) when they travel to Le Moyne College.
