MANSFIELD, Mass. - Graduate student Ashley Corcoran (East Longmeadow, Mass.) has been named Northeast-10 Women's Track Athlete of the Week on Tuesday.
Corcoran, who won the award twice during the indoor portion of the schedule, opened the outdoor season with a record-setting performance in the 3000m Steeplechase at the SNHU Spring Invitational on Saturday at Penmen Stadium.
Corcoran's time for the race, which she won, was 10:38.61. That was a new Penmen Stadium record, a personal best and program record, and the fourth fastest time recorded among all Div. II runners so far this season.
In the new poll, released Tuesday by the USTFCCCA, Southern New Hampshire moved ahead of Stonehill College to the number one spot in the East Region.
Up next - the Penmen will be taking part in the Wildcat Invitational 2 Meet at the University of New Hampshire in Durham, N.H. on Saturday.
