The SNHU women's track & field team sent two athletes to compete at the New England Indoor Championships (NEICAAA) this weekend, as senior Hope Sinclair and sophomore Erika Wojcik represented the Penmen against the region's top competition.
Sinclair reaches sprint final
Senior Hope Sinclair (Hampton, N.H.) continued her strong postseason run by advancing to the final of the 60-meter dash. Sinclair qualified for the eight-woman final with a time of 7.77 seconds in prelims before placing sixth overall in the championship race in 7.71 seconds. Competing in a field stacked with Division I sprinters, Sinclair's finals appearance capped another strong showing in what has been a record-setting senior season.
Wojcik earns top-four finish in 800
Sophomore Erika Wojcik (North Andover, Mass.) delivered an impressive performance in the 800 meters, advancing through prelims Friday with a time of 2:14.80 before finishing fourth overall in the final in 2:14.93.
Team note
With just two competitors entered, SNHU finished tied for 16th in the team standings, scoring eight points at the regional meet which was won by the University of Rhode Island.
Up next
The Penmen now turn their focus to the outdoor season as they build on a successful indoor championship stretch that included multiple conference titles and record-setting performances. SNHU will host its Spring Open on Saturday, March 28 at Ouellette Stadium.
