(Daytona, Fla.) --- The SNHU Cheer Team has arrived in Florida. Tomorrow (Thursday), the squad will compete in the National Cheerleaders Association (NCA) College National Championships in Daytona Beach.
Senior captain and English Major
Ana Tunberg (Derry, N.H.) filed a report:
Wednesday, April 6th is practice day at the Ocean Center for the SNHU Penmen here in Daytona!
The SNHU cheerleaders are very excited to be back in Daytona after two years. For many this is their first time at Nationals.
"I've been waiting for this and to go since my freshman year", says sophomore
Kelsey Bates. "I'm so excited to finally be here, it's like a dream."
First, we practiced our stunts outside the Ocean Center next to Davenport Cheer and TVCC!! It's absolutely amazing and motivating to be practicing next to the absolute best!
During our practice time, our stunts weren't going as well as we hoped. So, the coaches changed our stunt, showing how dedicated they are to this team and our success. Our coaches know what's best for us and always set the team up to perform our absolute best.
After a tour of the legendary bandshell, we practiced our new stunt outside under the Florida sun with Daytona beach in view.
After good hard work our confidence is back up and we are ready for two awesome Daytona performances! "Going into prelims, we are excited and optimistic, the team has been given all the tools they need to set them up for success" says Coach
Ben King. "We are going to focus on ourselves and being the best we can be. We are going to make Southern New Hampshire University proud. Go Penmen!"
