DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — The SNHU Cheer team capped off a historic weekend with a fourth-place finish at the NCA National Championships, posting a program-record score of 90.04 in the finals at the Daytona Beach Bandshell. After sitting third following prelims, the Penmen delivered another strong performance on finals day, turning in back-to-back hit routines on the national stage.
"This team showed exactly who they are — hungry, focused and relentless," the team said in its post-meet recap.
SNHU's routine featured confident stunt execution, clean basket tosses and high energy throughout, showcasing the growth and consistency the team developed over the course of the season.More importantly, the performance reflected the team's identity. "More than anything, this performance reflected the grit, resilience and heart this team has carried all season long," the team said. "The growth, the fight and the belief in one another — it all showed today."
Senior team captain Brooke Drouin (Manchester, N.H.) emphasized the group's ability to deliver when it mattered most. "Our goal was to come here to hit the two routines we are capable of, and we absolutely delivered two of the best back-to-back performances we've given in my time here at SNHU," Drouin said.
Fellow captain, seniorTalen LeToile (Wolfeboro, N.H.) pointed to the team's identity as a driving force behind the performance. "AGAGNHM — All girl, all grit, New Hampshire made — are the words we stand behind and the words we called upon and never lost sight of," LeToile said. "The opportunity was in our hands, and we absolutely capitalized on the moment. I am so proud to leave this team better than I found it."
The weekend concluded with a team dinner at Aunt Catfish's, putting a fitting cap on a memorable trip to Daytona Beach.
