Jack Pepin (Plaistow, N.H.) carded a -1 (71) to help the Southern New Hampshire University men's golf team to a day two round of 295. The Penmen moved up two slots and now sit along in second place just four strokes behind first place St. Thomas Aquinas after two rounds at the NCAA East/Atlantic Regional at Ravenwood Golf on Friday afternoon. The Penmen would advance to the NCAA national championship field with a top 4 finish.
INDIVIDUAL PERFORMERS
- Sophomore AJ Cavotta (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) shot a +1 73. He is tied for second after two rounds just one shot off the overall lead.
- Senior Matt Conti (Walpole, Mass) shot a (+2) 74 and is tied for 15th
- Freshman Alex Korkuc (So. Setauket, N.Y.) fired a +5 (77) to round out team scoring for the second-straight day.
- Junior Jeff Liss (Port St. Lucie, Fla.) carded a 80 (+8) but did not factor in team scoring.
NOTES
- The Penmen had the second-best team round on day two.
- Pepin's 71 was tied for the second-best round of the day.
- SNHU has a tournament best 117 pars as Cavotta himself as 27 and Korkuc 25.
- The field includes 20 teams and 108 golfers all aspiring to make the NCAA National Championship.
- The top 4 teams and 2 individuals from non-advancing teams will qualify for nationals.
WHAT'S NEXT
- SNHU conclude play with round three at the NCAA East/Atlantic Regional at Ravenwood Golf Club in Victor, N.Y. on May 7. The event is a 3-day, 54-hole tournament.
