Men's Basketball to Play Nov. 1 Exhibition vs. Syracuse Orange

Will be the second time in five years the Penmen and Orange meet in tune-up

MANCHESTER, N.H. – For the second time in five years, the Southern New Hampshire University men's basketball team will meet Syracuse University in an exhibition matchup at the JMA Wireless Dome. The teams will face off Tuesday, Nov. 1 at a time that will be announced in the near future.

"We are so excited about the opportunity to play Syracuse University this upcoming season," said Penmen head coach Jack Perri, who will enter his fifth season in 2022-23. "After having such uncertainty the last two years with all that came with the pandemic, we wanted to give the guys a chance to do something on the court they will remember forever. With a talented mix of newcomers and veterans on our roster, we wanted to challenge ourselves and hopefully grow together from the experience, prior to the start of our regular season."

This will be the third time in eight years the Penmen will square off with a Division I power in the preseason, as they played the University of Maryland in an exhibition tilt at the XFINITY Center in College Park, Md., in 2015 and then faced the Orange in 2017. In the first meeting with SU at the then-Carrier Dome, SNHU led by five more than seven minutes in, before 'Cuse eventually prevailed, 84-54.

Syracuse, guided by 47th-year head coach Jim Boeheim, is coming off a season in which it went 16-17 and qualified for the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) Tournament. The Orange have advanced to 41 NCAA Tournaments and made six Final Four appearances, winning a National Championship in 2003.

Southern New Hampshire finished 13-11 a year ago and earned a berth to the NE10 Championship.
