Senior Matt Conti (Walpole, Mass.) fired a second-round, 6-under 66 to finish in first place following two rounds at the Southern New Hampshire University men's golf team's Granite State Opener on Monday at Beaver Meadow Golf Course. The Penmen are just one shot back in second place after 36 holes.

INDIVIDUAL PERFORMERS

• Conti opened with a 72 that had him tied for 10th and then charged up the leaderboard with the 66 that gave him a 6-under 138 through the two rounds.
• Senior Jeff Liss (Port St. Lucie, Fla.) is just behind with a 5-under 139, shooting an opening round, 2-under 70, before shaving a stroke off with a 3-under 69 in round No. 2.
• Sophomore Jack Pepin (Plaistow, N.H.) recorded a 151 with a 76 in the first round and a 75 in the second.
• Junior Alex Korkuc (So. Setauket, N.Y.) carded a 75 in round No. 1, but had his 81 dropped from the team score in the second round, as he penciled in a 156.
• Senior Jared Mscisz (Danvers, Mass.) submitted an 81 that was dropped in the first round and then added a 78 for a two-round total of 159.

NOTES

• Playing as an individual, freshman Sean Dully (Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.) tied for fifth with a 1-under 143. He opened with a 3-under 69 and then followed up with a 2-over 74.
• Freshman Evan Rollins (Laconia, N.H.), also playing as an individual, is tied for 14th with a 3-over 147, following his 72 and 75 in respective rounds.
• Junior Nick Tufts (Auburn, N.H.) is tied for 24th with a 150 (72/78).
• Assumption University (580) holds a one-shot lead over Southern New Hampshire and a two-stroke advantage on Post University (582).
• Conti leads Liss by one shot, with Franklin Pierce University's Michael Sosik and Adelphi University's Filip Wetterqvist four strokes back.
• Conti's second-round 66 was the low score of the day. He owned one of five eagles through the first 36 holes.
• The Granite State Opener is comprised of 54 golfers from nine different institutions.
