SNHU's Indoor Track & Field team competed at meets in Maine and Boston on Saturday.  Graduate student Bennie Alula (Hartford, Conn.) had her best day of the season with a win in the weight throw, and a new personal best for the shot put and graduate student Ashley Corcoran (East Longmeadow, Mass.) ran an NCAA provisional qualifying time in the mile.
 
TOPS FROM HUSKY INVITATIONAL AT SOUTHERN MAINE
  • Alula turned in a season-best 14.67m while winning the weight throw.  She placed in the shot put with a new personal best of 11.77m.   
  • Junior Laila Bunnitt (Lewiston, Maine) had a season-best 11.35m in the shot put, finishing third.
  • Freshman Anne Wiersma (Velhoven, The Netherlands) won the 800m race in a new PR or 2:33.97.
  • SNHU's 4x400 relay team finished second in 4:37.49 with the legs run by freshman Jada Edgren (Belmont, N.H.), freshman Amelia Edmunds (Strafford, N.H.), junior Theresa Irving (Penacook, N.H.), and freshman Colleen McGurl (Billerica, Mass.).
  • Irving also turned in a new PR in the 55 (8.14) and tied her season-best with a 1.56m high jump while finishing second.
  • SNHU finished second at the meet (72),  behind host Southern Maine (148).
TOPS FROM JOHN THOMAS TERRIER CLASSIC AT BOSTON UNIVERSITY
  • In the mile, Corcoran fell just short of her program record of 4:51.44, finishing 29th with a 4:52.78.    The NCAA provisional qualifying time is listed as the fastest in the region among Div. II athletes.
  • Junior Kaitlyn O'Rourke (Braintree, Mass.) ran her fastest mile at 5:10.71 (3rd fastest in the region), and freshman Corrina Obernesser (Westminster, Colo.) ran 5:25.54.
  • Junior Ava Gravell (Windham, N.H.) set a PR in the 400m at 58.22.
  • Freshman Hope Sinclair (Hampton, N.H.) ran 8.28 in the 60 and 27.59 in the 200, her fastest races of the season.
WHAT'S NEXT
  •  The New England Championships (NEICAAA) will be contested Thursday and Friday (2/2-2/3) at the Track at New Balance in Boston.
