Ava Gravell (Windham, N.H.) each won events, setting new PR's, as SNHU Indoor Track & Field started the new year on Saturday at the University of Southern Maine.
TOP PERFORMERS
- Bunnitt, who was named the Field Athlete of the Meet at last year's NE10 Outdoor Championships won by the Penmen, started her season with a win in the weight throw with a new PR of 14.36m. She also finished sixth in the shot put (11.00m).
- Gravell's win in the 55 meter dash was in a new personal best 7.48 seconds, just .04 off the program mark set by Meghan Stroh last year. She doubled up with a win in the long jump at 5.12m and helped the SNHU 4x200 "A" team to a second place finish.
NOTES
- Graduate student Tatyanna Beckford (Orange, N.J.) set a new PR in the weight throw, finishing fifth with a 12.99m.
- Graduate student Bennie Alula (Hartford, Conn.) finished third in the shot put (11.19m), just ahead of freshman Brooke Bibbo (Burlington, Mass.), who was fourth with a season-best 11.15m.Â
- Freshman Maggie McInerney (Acton, Mass.) had another busy meet, running on the 4x200m relay team, and competing in the 55m (5th), the high jump (7th) and the long jump (3rd).
- Junior Emma Hallet (Billerica, Mass.) finished second in the high jump at 1.56m and fifth in the 55 hurdles (9.64).
- Sophomore Tori Allen (Litchfield, N.H.) wound up fourth in the high jump, and fourth in the 55 hurdles (9.43).
- SNHU's distance runners had this meet off and are expected to run in Boston next week.
- Team results:Â Southern Maine (164.5), Husson (111), SNHU (109.5), UMass Dartmouth (55), Regis (49), St. Joseph's (30), York Community College (4).
WHAT'S NEXT
- Â The Penmen return to action next Saturday at the Track at New Balance in Boston, a meet hosted by Suffolk University.
