MANSFIELD, Mass. - Freshman Minke van de Poll (Oosterbeek, Netherlands) of the Southern New Hampshire University field hockey team was honored as the NE10 Rookie of the Week for the period ending Oct. 8, the league office announced Monday afternoon.
Minke recorded a first-half hat trick in SNHU's 4-1 win over rival Saint Anselm College in NE10 play last Wednesday night. The win over the fifth-ranked Hawks was the first in program history. van de Poll is currently tied for the team lead with 12 points (6 goals). This is the first weekly award for Minke, and the first of the season for SNHU. Last season, now sophomore goalkeeper Emma Peeters (Wageningen, Netherlands) won the Rookie of the Week award twice.
SNHU returns to action on Wednesday (Oct. 11) at Bentley. The next home match for the Penmen will be on Saturday (Oct. 14) at 2:00 p.m. against Molloy University.
