INDIANAPOLIS – The Southern New Hampshire University women's volleyball team collected its second consecutive selection to the NCAA Championship when the NCAA Selection Committee announced its field of 64 teams Monday evening.
Southern New Hampshire (13-12), which received an at-large bid, earns the East Region's No. 6 seed and will take on third-seeded Bentley University (22-6) in a first round match Thursday, Nov. 30 (2:30 p.m.) at Adelphi University, which is hosting the East Regional at the Center for Recreation and Sport in Garden City, N.Y. Bentley has won 12 of the last 15 meetings, including seven of the last nine. The Falcons swept a pair of regular-season matches this season on Sept. 23 and 26.
The winner of the SNHU/Bentley match will meet the victor of the second-seeded University of New Haven (23-9) and seven-seeded Mercy University (14-8) on Friday (Dec. 1) at 5 p.m. The winner from that match will advance to Saturday's (Dec. 2) regional final at 7 p.m.
The quarterfinals, semifinals and finals will be played Dec. 7-9 at the UPMC Events Center in Township, Pa., hosted by Clarion University.
SNHU made its first appearance in the NCAA Championship last season, going 3-1, as it swept through the East Regional to capture the crown and advance to the NCAA National Championship in Seattle, Wash. The Penmen were the No. 6 seed last season and opened against third-seeded Bentley with a 3-1 win.
