Carter Sylvester (Northwood, N.H.) turned in a new personal best, finishing 13th, and the Southern New Hampshire University men's cross country team finished seventh at Saturday's NCAA East Regional Championship in Hopkinton, N.H.
STANDOUT PERFORMERS
- Sylvester ran the race in 31:46, the sixth fastest 10k in program history.
- Freshman Eric Sekyaya (Burlington, Mass.) turned in the second-best time by a first-year, finishing 19th in 32:00.3, also a top-ten race in program history for SNHU.
- Sophomore Dillon Labonte (Lee, N.H.) - 33:05.9 and finished 42nd
- Senior Kody Gagnon (Toland, Conn.) - 33:56.6 and finished 68th
- Sophomore Zak Laverdiere (Seekonk, Mass.) - 34:17.3 and finished 82nd
NOTES
- Southern Connecticut State (32 points) repeated as regional champ.
- Roberts Wesleyan (60) and Franklin Pierce University (86 points) also finished in the qualifying positions for the National Championship.
- Wondu Summa of Franklin Pierce finished first in 30:44.2, a new career mark for the 10k for last year's champ.
- Also competing for the Penmen were freshman Brett Trainor (North Chelmsford, Mass.) in 35:08.5 and freshman Ryan Burgher (Brookline, N.H.) in 36:58.9.
