Evan Guillory (Springfield, Mo.) pumped in a career-high 30 points to lead the Southern New Hampshire University men's basketball team to a 76-61 win over Saint Michael's College on Tuesday night at the Stan Spirou Field House. With the victory, the Penmen claim their first NE10 Regular-Season Championship since 2016-17.

KEY MOMENTS
- Southern New Hampshire scored the first six points of the game – with four from Guillory – over the opening 2:17 and led, 15-8, with a little over 11 minutes left in the first half when Saint Michael's used a 9-2 run to tie the game at 17-all with 8:15 to play. The Penmen held a two-point lead a little under five minutes later when it closed the half with a 13-4 blitz – with six from Layman – to bring a 37-26 advantage to the locker room.
- A balanced 10-3 run from four different Penmen scorers early in the second half extended the lead to 49-33 just 4:24 in. Saint Michael's would later score eight straight to slash its deficit in half at 51-43 with 10:53 remaining, but SNHU countered with nine-in-a-row, including the last five from Guillory, to go up 60-43 with 7:40 left. A 3-pointer from junior Noah Kamba (Lynn, Mass.) handed the Penmen their largest lead of the night at 72-54 with 1:50 on the clock.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Kamba netted eight points (2-5 FG, 2-4 3-FG, 2-2 FT) and grabbed two rebounds.
- Sophomore Derrick Grant (Plainfield, N.J.) chipped in two points (1-2 FG) and seven boards.
- Southern New Hampshire outshot Saint Michael's, 49.1 percent (28-57) to 41.8 percent (23-55), while SMC returned the favor from deep, 34.6 percent (9-26) to 31.3 percent (5-16).
- SNHU was plus-9 and shot it better from the stripe, 78.9 percent (15-19) to 75 percent (6-8).
- The Penmen won the glass (36-25) and the paint (26-20), scored more points off turnovers (11-7), second chance points (9-4) and on the fast break (6-2), and turned in a better assist-to-turnover ratio (13/9-9/10). The Purple Knights received more scoring from their bench (26-12).
NOTES
- Southern New Hampshire, which is receiving votes in the latest National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Division II Coaches Poll, has won 16 of its last 20, 15 of its last 16 and nine-in-a-row.
- This marks the third NE10 Regular-Season Championship for SNHU and its first since 2016-17. The Penmen clinch the No. 1 seed and a first-round bye for the NE10 Championship, which begins Friday (Feb. 24). SNHU will host a quarterfinal game against the winner of eighth-seeded Franklin Pierce University and ninth-seeded Assumption University on Sunday, Feb. 26 (3:30 p.m.).
- SNHU leads the all-time series with Saint Michael's, 41-14, and has won 16 of the last 19 meetings, including five straight. The Penmen have also won 10-in-a-row at home versus the Purple Knights, who last left SNHU with a victory Nov. 16, 2011 (59-57).
- The Penmen sweep the regular-season series from the Purple Knights for the third straight year after also recording a 64-56 victory on the road Jan. 7.
- Guillory has put together an eight-game, double-digit scoring streak (18.1 ppg).
- Six of Layman's seven double-digit scoring performances this season have come in the last eight games, including four-in-a-row. He is averaging 10.0 ppg over his last eight and 12.8 ppg during the four-game run of 10-plus points.
