Indoor Track & Field Wins at Plymouth State

Penmen Turn in Strong Efforts Across The Board Saturday

When and Where: February 4, 2023- Panther Invitational II (Plymouth, N.H.)
Result:  1st of 8 (125 points)

(Plymouth, N.H.) ---SNHU Indoor Track & Field finished off a strong weekend with a win at the Panther Invitational II, hosted by Plymouth State University, on Saturday.

TOP PERFORMANCES
  • Graduate student Bennie Alula finished second in both the shot put (11.62m) and the weight throw (14.31m).
  • Junior Laila Bunnitt (Lewiston, Maine) recorded a throw of 10.89m for the shot, and 13.32m for the weight throw, where she finished third.
  • The Penmen scored 39 points in the throws with graduate student Tatyanna Beckford (Orange, N.J.) and freshman Brooke Bibbo (Burlington, Mass.) also scoring points.
  • Freshman Jada Edgren (Belmont, N.H.) turned in new PR's for the 60m (8.54), and 28.09 for the 200m, where she finished in second place.
  • A 10.01 in the 60 hurdles was a new personal best for junior Theresa Irving (Penacook, N.H.).  Irving finished in third place.
  • Freshman Hope Sinclair (Hampton, N.H.) had PRs in both the 400m (1:08.74), where she finished in third, and in the long jump.
  • Freshman Colleen McGurl (Billerica, Mass.) recorded new season best times in both the 60m (8.56) and 400m (1:12.04).
  • Freshman Anne Wiersma (Velhoven, The Netherlands) was second in the 800m (2:31.72).
  • Senior Madison McMahon (East Longmeadow, Mass.) turned in a second-place finish in the long jump (4.63m). 
  • Senior Meredith DeNegris (Wallingford, Conn.) was second in the triple jump (10.09m)
NOTES
  • SNHU scored 125 points to top the eight-team field.  Keene State University finished with 119 points.  Colby-Sawyer College was third with 75 points.
WHAT'S NEXT
  • SNHU will compete at BU's David Hemery Valentine Invitational next Friday (2/10), the final meet before the Northeast-10 Indoor Track & Field Championships.
