INDIANAPOLIS – The Southern New Hampshire University men's basketball team claimed its 21st selection to the NCAA Championship tournament – and first since 2017 – when the NCAA Selection Committee announced its field of 64 teams Sunday evening.
Southern New Hampshire (20-8), which received an at-large bid, earns the East Region's No. 3 seed and will take on sixth-seeded St. Thomas Aquinas College (26-4) in the opening round Saturday, March 11 (12 p.m.) at Saint Anselm College, which is hosting the East Regional at Stoutenburgh Gymnasium. The Spartans captured their fourth straight ECC Championship on Sunday. SNHU trails the all-time series with STAC, 2-1, with the teams most recently meeting Jan. 9, 2017, which was a 104-90 home win for St. Thomas Aquinas.
The winner of SNHU/STAC will meet the victor of second-seeded Bentley University (21-6) and seventh-seeded Dominican (N.Y.) University (21-8) on Sunday (March 12) at 5 p.m.. The winner from that contest will punch its ticket to the regional final on Tuesday (March 14) at 7 p.m..
Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for seniors, children and students with a valid ID. Tickets are only valid for each session. The Elite Eight will take place at the Ford Center in Evansville, Ind., with the quarterfinals March 21, the semifinals March 23 and the NCAA National Championship Game on March 25.
SNHU will be making its 21st appearance, overall, in the NCAA Championship and carries in a record of 27-20 (.574). The Penmen own seven NCAA East Region crowns, with 2015 being their most recent, in addition to a pair of Final Four appearances.
