MANSFIELD, MA. – The Northeast-10 Conference has announced its major award winners for the 2022-23 Indoor Track & Field season, naming Head Coach Lex Butler and Assistants as "Coaching Staff of the Year". The Penmen won the first Indoor Track & Field Championship in program history last month in Boston.
Butler, in his ninth year at Southern New Hampshire, also led the Penmen to the program's first NE10 Outdoor Championship last Spring and the Penmen have continued to rank as the No. 1 in team in the East Region this season. His assistants are Ed Daniels, Alexis Drake, DJ Ayotte, and Rich Marcello. This is the first time in program history that Southern New Hampshire has received this honor from the NE10.
Up next, graduate student Ashley Corcoran (East Longmeadow, Mass.), the Most Outstanding Athlete at the Indoor Track & Field Championships, will run the mile at the 2023 NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships later this week. She is one of just seven student-athletes and one relay team to qualify for the NCAA meet from the NE10, and is scheduled to run the preliminary on Friday at 3:40 p.m. in Virginia Beach, Va. Nine finalists will compete for top honors on Saturday at 4:50 p.m. The NCAA will stream the meet through its website, ncaa.com.
