Alula, Corcoran Top SNHU Performances at George Davis Invite

Penmen Prep for NE10 Championships at UMass Lowell

With just two weeks until the Northeast-10 Outdoor Track & Field Championships, SNHU tuned up at the George Davis Invitational at UMass-Lowell Friday and Saturday. 

TOP PERFORMANCES
  • Graduate student Bennie Alula (Hartford, Conn.) set a new PR of 45.91m in the hammer throw, showing as the second best throw in the East Region among D2 athletes.  She also set a new PR in the discus on Saturday at 32.58m.
  • Freshman Brooke Bibbo (Burlington, Mass.) set a new PR in the shot put (11.57m) and also finished ninth in the discus (34.58m).
  • Graduate student Tatyanna Beckford (Orange, N.J.) set a new personal best with 11.37m in the shot put and also finished ninth in the javelin (33.43m).
  • Junior Tori Limone (Stoneham, Mass.) came in fourth in the javelin with a season-best toss of 38.05m - and a top performance by an NE10 athlete.
  • Junior Emma Hallet (Billerica, Mass.) turned in a new PR in the long jump at 5.21m while finishing up in 11th place.
  • Graduate student Ashley Corcoran (East Longmeadow, Mass.) set a new PR in the 1500m at 4:33.90, showing as the fastest time in the East Region, and breaking her own program record for the distance.
  • Junior Ava Gravell (Windham, N.H.) finished second in the 400m with a 58.92.
  • Junior Kaitlyn O'Rourke (Braintree, Mass.) won the 3000 Steeplechase in 11:33.26. 
  • Freshman Corrina Obernesser (Westminster, Colo.) wound up second in the race at 11:54.19.
  • Junior Kelsey Seamans (Methuen, Mass.) ran second in the 5000, setting a new PR at 17:50.58, also a top effort by an NE10 athlete.
  • Freshman Jia Anderson-Salo (Alstead, N.H.) ran a new PR for the 800m at 2:38.95.
  • Freshman Emily Charest (Methuen, Mass.) ran the fastest 3000 by an SNHU runner this season at 11:39.19.
  • Junior Tori Limone (Stoneham, Mass.) came in third in the javelin at 36.09m.
NOTES
  • There was no team scoring. 
  • The George Davis Invitational was contested over two days, with some field events held Friday.  Most of the athletes competing were members of NCAA Div. I programs, including UMass Lowell, UNH, Dartmouth and Merrimack.
WHAT'S NEXT
  • SNHU will take part at the Stonehill Skyhawk Invitational next Saturday (4/29).
  • The Northeast-10 Outdoor Championships will be held at Mark A. Ouellette Stadium on Fri./Sat. May 5-6.
