Women's Track & Field Competes at New England Championships

O'Rourke Earns All-New England in Steeplechase

When and Where: May 12-13, 2023 – Dedham, Mass. – Solomon Track & Field Facility
What: NEICAAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships
Scores:  T42nd of 43 (2 points)

SNHU Women's Outdoor Track & Field participated at the NEICAAA Championships at Northeastern University on Friday and Saturday.

RESULTS
  • The Penmen picked up two scoring points with junior Kaitlyn O'Rourke (Braintree, Mass.) finishing in seventh place in the 3000m Steeplechase.  Her time was 11:25.62.  O'Rourke earned All-New England for the second consecutive season.
  • Junior Riley McDermott (Kennebunkport, Maine) also took on the 3000S, finishing 13th in 12:09.68.
  • Graduate student Tatyanna Beckford (Orange, N.J.) had a 35.20m (115-06) in the javelin throw, which was 14th place.  That was a new PR for her.
  • Junior Kelsey Seamans (Methuen, Mass.) finished the 5000m in 19th place with an 18:32.02. 
  • The lone first-year student to compete for SNHU, Hope Sinclair (Hampton, N.H.), ran the 100m in 13.04 seconds.
NOTES
  • This was the final opportunity for a few members of the team to try meet NCAA provisional qualifying standards.
  • The NEICAAA Championships bring together athletes across all Divisions.  Rhode Island was tops on the men's side (111 points) with NE10 Outdoor Champion Southern Connecticut State in second (99 points).
  • URI also won the women's competition with 92 points over second-place UMass Amherst (75 points).
  • The SNHU Women won the Northeast-10 Outdoor Track & Field Championship last weekend at Mark A. Ouellette Stadium in Hooksett, bringing an end to the season for most of the athletes.
WHAT'S NEXT
  • The NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships will be held May 25-27 in Pueblo, Colo. Selections for the Championship will be announced next week.
