Ashley Corcoran (East Longmeadow, Mass.) has earned another trip to an NCAA Track & Field Championship - her fourth - after being selected to compete at the Outdoor Championship in her best event, the 3000m Steeplechase. The NCAA announced selections on Tuesday evening.
Corcoran's 10:21.74 in the Steeplechase at the Penmen Relays on April 15 was the eighth-fastest time in Div. II during the current outdoor season. It was also a new personal best for Ashley in the event. Last season, Corcoran finished 10th overall in this event at the NCAA Div. II Outdoor Championships. She also has twice qualified to run the mile at the NCAA Div. II Indoor Championships.
The 3000m Steeplechase is an obstacle race, in which each runner must clear a total of 28 barriers and make seven water jumps. 3000 meters is approximately 1.86 miles.
A total of 754 participants, 377 men and 377 women, will compete at the 2023 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field championships. Student-athletes qualified for the championships by reaching a provisional standard established for each event.The championships will be held May 25-27 in Pueblo, Colorado at the CSU Pueblo ThunderBowl. Colorado State University, Pueblo will serve as host of the championships. The championships will be streamed live on
