Graduate student Anne Sikkema (Leeuwarden, Netherlands) scored in the 73rd minute to give the 16th-ranked Southern New Hampshire University women's soccer team a 4-3 lead, but Assumption University would answer just 21 seconds later, as the teams played to a 4-4 draw Saturday at Marois Field.

KEY MOMENTS 
  • Assumption scored just 1:16 into the match and found the back of the net with 2:04 left before halftime to take a 2-0 lead into the break.
  • Southern New Hampshire struck twice in the opening 12 minutes of the second stanza, with Greene putting the Penmen on the board in the 54th minute and Gantelius knotting the score in  the 57th.
  • The Greyhounds went in front, 3-2, just 45 seconds after SNHU tied it, but Roulston answered in the 61st minute to even the score again.
  • Sikkema put SNHU on top, 4-3, with 17:31 remaining, but Assumption leveled the match again just 21 seconds later and that is how it would end.

  • Assumption goalkeeper Frida Larsson stopped eight of the 12 shots she faced.

NOTES 
  • Southern New Hampshire, ranked 16th in the latest United Soccer Coaches Division II Top 25 Poll, is 0-1-2 over its last three, following a 3-0-0 start to the season.
  • SNHU, which leads the all-time series with Assumption, 18-11-6, is now unbeaten in seven of the last eight against the Greyhounds, but had their three-match winning streak halted. The Penmen are unbeaten over their last three trips to Assumption (1-0-2), with their last loss in Worcester to the 'Hounds coming Sept. 24, 2016 (1-0).
  • Green's goal is her first of the season and third of her career. Gantelius' strike is the fourth of her rookie campaign. Roulston's tally is her first of 2023 and fifth of her career. Sikkema recorded her first goal of the season and the fourth of her Penmen career.
  • The Penmen are now 47-20-15 (.665) over their last 82 matches dating back to the start of the 2017 campaign.

  • After six straight matches away from home to begin the year, SNHU finally opens its Ouellette Stadium slate Wednesday, Sept. 27 (7 p.m.) by playing host to Franklin Pierce University.
