MANSFIELD, Mass. – Senior Julia Cavalcanti (Vineyard, Utah) of the Southern New Hampshire University women's volleyball team was chosen for the NE10 All-Conference Third Team and freshman Addie Garn (Gilbert, Ariz.) earned a spot on the All-Rookie Team, as the conference office handed out its end-of-the-year accolades Wednesday.
Cavalcanti was the only member of the team to start all 26 matches this season. She led the team with 42 service aces (0.46 sa/s) and 69 blocks (0.75 b/s), while ranking second with 190 kills (2.07 k/s). Cavalcanti ranked fifth in the league in service aces and 12th in hitting percentage (.267).
Garn, who missed time with an injury, still played in 68 sets over 22 matches, including 13 starts. She dished 396 assists (5.82 a/s), served up 32 aces (0.47 sa/s) and collected 135 digs (1.99 d/s) in her first collegiate season. She placed seventh in the conference in aces per set and ninth in assists per set.
The Penmen (9-17, 4-6 NE10), who earned the No. 6 seed, saw their season draw to a close Tuesday night with a 3-1 loss at the third-seeded University of New Haven in the NE10 Championship quarterfinals.
