Annemartine Christis Named Division II East Regional Player of the Year

Christis Adds To Honors With Record-Shattering Season

MANAHAWKIN, NJ – Senior Annemartine Christis ('s-Hertogenbosch, Netherlands) of the Southern New Hampshire University field hockey team was named the 2024 National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division II East Region Player of the Year on Thursday.

Christis led NCAA Division II with 30 goals and 74 points in 2024.  The Northeast-10 Player of the Year finished her career as SNHU's all-time leading scorer, tops in both goals (53) and assists (40) for 146 points.  She was named to the Northeast-10 All-Rookie and Second Team as a freshman, the Second Team as a sophomore, and the First Team her two final seasons.

Christis is the second SNHU player in the past six seasons to win the award.  In 2019, Laura van der Doorn was the East Region Player of the Year.  SNHU also advanced to the NCAA tournament with an at-large berth that season.

Christis and Jady van Gils from East Stroudsburg University, the Atlantic Region Player of the Year, are now in the running for NFHCA Division II National Player of the Year honors.

Southern New Hampshire completed a 15-2 regular season in 2024.  After a win in the Northeast-10 tournament, SNHU fell to eventual National Champion Saint Anselm College in the semifinals.  The Penmen earned an at-large bid to the NCAA tournament, falling 2-1 in double-overtime to National Runner-Up Kutztown University.   The Penmen tied the school record for conference wins (12), reaching a new program-best fourth in the national rankings.  SNHU also set a new program record for goals in a season with 70, which topped the previous mark of 68 in 2019.
