Senior Alex Korkuc (So. Setauket, N.Y.) fired a 1-under 71 to open the Penmen Spring Invitational on Monday, but the Southern New Hampshire University men's golf team is fifth after the first round at Beaver Meadow Golf Course.

INDIVIDUAL PERFORMERS

• Korkuc's 71 has him tied for fifth, four shots back of the leader.
• Sophomore Sean Dully (Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.) is tied for 18th with a 2-over 74.
• Junior Jack Pepin (Plaistow, N.H.) and freshman Drew Cameron (Londonderry, N.H.) carded a 3-over 75 to tie for 25th and round out the Penmen scorers.

NOTES

• Sophomore Evan Rollins (Laconia, N.H.) had his 76 dropped from the team score and is tied for 32nd.
• Senior Nick Tufts (Auburn, N.H.), playing as an individual, also shot a 76.
• Freshman Mitchell Cormier (Walpole, N.H.), also playing as a individual, penciled in a 78.
• Post University (284) and Saint Anselm College (284) are tied atop the leaderboard at 4-under, which is nine strokes better than Assumption University (293).
• Post's Bill Koch is first on the individual leaderboard at 5-under 67, which is one shot ahead of Saint Anselm's Lucas Dascoli (68).
• The Penmen Spring Invitational is comprised of 55 golfers from nine different institutions.
